The eruption of Mount Vesuvius

Mount Vesuvius is located in Italy. It has erupted many times but the biggest eruption was on August 24th 79 A.D. The eruption covered Pompeii and killed many people. This isn't the only time Mount Vesuvius has erupted. The map on the left shows all of the ares effected by Mount Vesuvius. This shows that Mount Vesuvius is one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world.

When Mount Vesuvius erupted, the ash and stone covered many people. They remain today, it is like a frozen moment in time. Some have amazing detail and you can see facial features, however some have deteriorated over time. Today the interest in Pompeii still remains, it has been in TV shows and films and you you can even visit Pompeii and see what Mount Vesuvius has done.
